This paper describes the methodology and results of an information model for managing telecommunication networks. In recent years, the network management of an operating company has been changing to global and multi-functional network operations for providing the best telecommunication services. To support such network operations, it is important to develop an integrated network operation system which comprises distributed and harmonized operation support systems sharing a global network management information and interacting with each other. For the environment of the integrated network operation system, the common masterdatabase concept is important. To stablish a common master database, it is essential to define the unified global network management information. The most fundamental domain for network management information is the network configuration information domain which represents the fundamental resources of operating companies. The other network management information should be combined to the network configuration information with some relationships. The presentation discusses the layered view of the telecommunications network and provides a global information model of the network. The model can be utilized directly for conceptual design of the common master database. |
