Evaluation of rhizobial strain competitiveness for nodule occupation on common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). |
The capacity to nodulate and efficiently fix in nitrogen in association with common bean was recently described for Sinorhizobium sp. strains. The competition for nodule occupancy among these strains and the comercial inoculant, produced with Rhizobium tropici strains (BR322 and BR520), was investigated. Sinorhizobium strains were more efficient in nitrogen fixation, accumulating values of shoot dry matter and nitrogen similar to plants receiving mineral nitrogen and higher than plants inoculate with strain BR322. Strain BR923 of Sinorhizobium was the most competitive, and the other strains from this genera were as competitive as strain BR520. |
