The application of dyes, polymers, resins and fungicides to soybean seeds has received special interest of seed producers and researchers. These agents in addition to the color they add to the seed also may protect workers when handling treated seeds. The objective of this work was to evaluace several (14) of these materials comparing with three standard fungicides for field emergence, plant population and yield in Londrina and Ponta Grossa, PR and Alto Garcas, MT. Seeds of 'BRS 133' soybean cultivar were treated in laboratory and sown in the field. plots were 5 m long, with four rows and the seedling rate was 20 seeds per meter. Seedling emergence and plant population were evaluated on the four rows of each plot and yield was estimated in the two cental rows (4.0m2). The experimental design was randomized complete block design with four replications and the means were separated by the Tukey's test at 5% level of probability. Among the free fungicides, better seedling emergence was observed with the treatment carbendazin (30g i.a) + thiram (70g i.a.) in Londrina and alto Garças although it was not different from the treatment with metalaxyl (10g i.a.) + fludioxonil (35g i.a.) in Ponta Grossa. The results showed that dyes, polymers and resins can only be used in addition to fungicides to protect the seed in the soil when there is lack of adequate moisture for germination and seedling emergence. |
