Tuber formation in M. esculenta was studied in plants exposed to dufferent photoperiods (8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 hr) for 5 or 10 days. Plants rceiving 16 hr light had minimum number of tubers followed by those, exposed to 12 hr light. Tuber formation reduced in plants receiving 8 and 24 hr light. The results suggest that in Cassava, tuber formation is promoted by exposing plants to 12-16 hr of light in initial stages of growth. |
