This study has revealed that the two new introductions, mallika'and amrapali', from India are distinctly dwarf in growth habit and hold promise for introducing the concept of 'highdensity' in mango. The var. M20/222' from Florida appeared to be a vigorous one. The sex-ratio in the 2 Indian varieties has been ascertained for the first time and has been found conducive to better fruit setting. The sex-expression pattern in the southern hemisphere does not appear to be in conformity with the one reported from the North. |
