The subject matter of this book has been arranged in the usual manner as in some well known standard on plant anatomy. After describing the parts of a plant body, details relating to cell, tissue types, and the arrangements of these in different plant organs have been considered. Separate chapters have been devoted to ecological anatomy, anomalous secondary growth as is found in different families of angiosperm, and anatomy in relation to taxonomy. The anatomy of the flower, the fruit and the seed has been put together in a single chapter to condense the subject matter, as floral anatomy is a specialized subject by itself, and the seed and fruit are often dealt with in embryology, whick would be considered to be out of the limits of this book. |
