1. Treatment with 0.8 ppm D-50 destroys all four dactylogyrid species found in Israel, including D. vastator which causes severe losses of fingerlings in spawning ponds. 2. D-50 concentration of 0.8 ppm is not deletirious to carp fingerlings of 12 mm size and larger. 3. Prophylactic treatment of 2 sprays of D-50 (0.8 ppm) during the season (mid-April, to end of July), the first, a week after the eggs hatch, and the second 3 weeks thereafter, suffice to insure against fingerling mortality under normal breeding conditions in Israel. 4. 0.8 of D-50 is not deletirious to rotifers and cyclops, effect the chironomid larvae of the upper bottom layer but, full recovery of the chironomid population follows after 6 days. |
