Tega EC 075, which contains the new active ingredient trifloxystrobin, was extensively tested in various banana-growing countries, including the specific agro-ecological conditions that apply for the crop and its most important disease - black sigatoka - in Colombia and Ecuador. In plot studies, and in semi-commercial studies in which treatment was applied by aircraft, Tega EC 075 at a rate of only 75 g active ingredient/ha produced better results than the commercial standard azoxystrobin used at a rate of 100 g a.i./ha. The slowest rate of leaf infection and the longest residual activity against the pathogen Mycosphaerella fijiensis were seen in the banana plants treated with Tega EC 075. Tega EC 075 is thus one of the most modern and most effective fungicides for banana cultivation, and its use in rotation with various other types of fungicides, backed by tried-and-tested crop-growing measures, will prove valuable in future. |
