The Florida Water Resources Act of 1972 was passed by the Florida legislature giving the State Department of Natural Resources power and responsibility to properly conserve, protect, manage, and control the water resources of the state. Essentially this Act means that the farmer must prudently manage the water available to him. To obtain a permit to use surface or underground water resources for irrigation he must identity the source, state the quantity and rate of withdrawal, and indicate when, how, and to what crops it will be applied. |
