Abstract: With the purpose of knowing the safety conditions of the arenitic caves of Altinópolis, a mycologic survey, in which the main agent in search was the H. capsulatum fungi, was carried out. Thirty samples from material encountered in seven caves were collected in sterilised glass flasks, taken to the laboratory and shaked in fisio logic salt solution for disaggregation. Then, aliquots were inoculated in Saubaurod medium and incubated at room temperature for ten days. The identification was obtained at the Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, and the most encountered genus was the ubiquitous Penici- iliüS and, in a decreasing order, Mucor, Fusarium, Aspergillus, Botrytis, Monilia and Trichodenna. These genera, though opportunistic parasites, do not enable the characterization of a insalubrious environment, and by intradermic reactions in the researchers who visited the caves, the contact with the H. capsulatum was not confirmed. A review about the histoplasmosis and its relationship with speleology is encluded. |
