Recently some detailed studies have been done on how microcomputers and related information systems are being used by farmers in various parts of the world. This paper first focuses on a study conducted with a large sample size in Berkshire, England, by discussing is main hypotheses and methods of analyses and then compare the results with some similar studies, particularly from America. Inferences are drawn with regard to the posulated and observed causal links that exist with the use of these systems and the farmer's education, record keeping requirements, extra information needed for decision making, availability of information, business efficiency and managerial effectiveness. Subsequent to that, some observations are made with regard to the similarities and dis-similarities of these researches and implications discusses insofar as institutional and managerial aspects are concerned. |
