This experiment was conducted to study the effect of leaf protein concentrate (LPC) and dehydrated alfalfa-meal (DAM) When compared with that of groudnut-cake on egg production, egg quality factors and net returns. LPC at 3,6 and 9% levels was as effective as groundnut-cake (at similar protein level) for egg production, feed consumption and efficiency, and to maintain egg quality factors such as egg weight, shape index, specific gravity, egg-shell thickness, albumen index, Haugh unit and yolk index. Better colour and higher vitamin A content in egg-yolk was obtained with diets containing LPC and DAM (7.3%) than diets containing groundnut-cake. |
