Phenotypically superior (positive) and inferior (negative) plants were selected at maturity in F2, F3 and F4 generations of three soybean crosses viz. Ankur x UPMS-534, Bragg x PK-262 and PK-308 x UPMS-534. The selections and bulks were evaluated in the following generations. The visual selection in F2, F3 and F4 generations of all the 3 crosses was ineffective in increasing seed yield. Visually selected plants matured 2 - 3 days later than the unselected ones and there were increases in plant height in the positive selections. |
