Recurrent tympany, persistent anorexia, suspended rumination and scanty pasty faeces were the prominent symptoms of the disease. Contrast radiography with barium meal was useful in confirmation of the diagnosis. Rumenotomy for removal of foreign bodies and evacuation of ruminal contents was essential before undertaking repair of the diaphragm. Administration of chloral hydrate and thiopental sodium, and hydrocortisone had no adverse effect on pregnancy of the animals. |
