Poly(o-methoxyaniline) (POMA) has been deposited onto substrates of various kinds in the form of self-assembled films alternated with poly(vinyl sulfonic acid) (PVS). Adsorption of POMA was monitored by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy as a function of the substrate immersion time. The results for polymeric concentration of 10E-2 M may be explained in terms of a fast, 1st-order-kinetics with characteristic time of approximately 5s, followed by a slower process which is completed within 250-300s. The characteristic time of the first process appears to be independent of the type of substrate or number of layers already deposited. The second, slow process, however, does depend on these parameters as it corresponds to the adsorption allowed by the rearrangement of the polymer molecules adsorbed in the first process. |
