Soybean Research and Development Project was started in July, 1987 for three years with planting of trials during summer, 1987-88. During summer, 1987, germplasm evaluation was done at NARC. Out of 816 entries, 21 gave yield more than 1700 kg/ha. Different varietal trials were conducted during summer, 1987. Variety Cumberland gave the maximum yield of 3032 kg/ha and took 97 days to mature. Variety McNair-700 was found late maturing and gave highest yield of 2202 kg/ha. In fertilizer trial during summer, 987 treatment receiving 20:40:25:10 of N:P:K:Zn kg/ha gave the highest yield of 1240.8 hg/ha. At National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) Islamabad during spring, 1988, out of 96 germplasm entries, the highest yield of 3544 kg/ha was given by an entryS-39-99, followed by varieties Zane and Weber, yielding 3006 and 2979 kg/ha respectively. In National Uniform Soybean Yield Trial during spring, 1988, at NARC, the highest yield of 2641 kg/ha was recorded from variety Harper, followed by Zane yielding 2422 kg/ha. In early maturing varietal trial during spring, 1988, the highest yield of 2536 kg/ha was recorded with variety S-39-99, folowed by PSC-59 with 2155.3 kg/ha yield. In fertilizer trial treatment with zinc combination receiving 40:80:100:20 of N:P:K:Zn kg/ha gave the highest yield of 2439.5 kg/ha.
