ABSTRACT: Mankind has explored the natural resources, with recorded examples of disasters through its history. Plants have been used as medicine for containing substances to prevent or cure diseases. In contradiction the advance in agriculture has threatened many species before they are known. Since our ancestors the continuous technological development has produced wonderful benefits from plants and animals even in hostile environments as in the semiarid Brazilian Caatinga. Exploitation of soil and water occurs at never seen rates, associated with industrialized inputs continuously growing. Organic agriculture has gained promience as an a alternative even trough its causes impact. Integrated weed management (IWM) can contribute to reduce negative environmental impacts. Every plant as beneficial before reaches noxious levels. Its benefits are decurrent of the IWM based on about their biology obtained by experimentation and research. |
