Despite of the reduced value of agricultura land and agroforestry systems for the conservation of neotropical species, studies have to be focused on their function in diversified landscapes, applying source-sink models and the metapopulation concept. Agroforestry systems could moderate the impact especially in high endemic areas, in biosphere reserves and buffer zones of protected areas. As a consequence, the population dynamic of the so-called "ecosystems engineers" and pests could considerable differ from the one in rain forest ecosystems. |
