Experiments were concluded with 152 digestion trials on 31 samples of alfalfa hay of va-
rying quality to relate the total digestible nutrient (TDN) content to either the lignin, crude
fiber, or nitrogen content. Regression equations were developed which allow one to pre-
dict with reasonable accuracy the TDN content from a lignin or crude fiber analysis. The
nitrogen content was shown to be related to the TDN; however, nitrogen was not as clo-
sely related as was crude fiber or lignin. |
