Fruits from lemon groves in Torriente, Matanzas Province, were used in this test and are described, using several parameters. Several picking methods were evaluated, using statistical models, and 2 postharvest treatments involving curing and date of refrigerated storage were compared. Domestic size and quality parameters met market requirements. Of all the factors studied during the harvest, only picking time significantly influenced the amount of oleocellosis. These factors exertd no significant influence on the incidence of posthavest fungus rots. Relative juice content was increased, and coloration developed favorably during refrigerated storage. The importance of transferring the fruit to the cold storage plant immediately and the advantages of preservingit at low temperatures were shown. |
