Las tablas latinoamericanas de Composicion Alimenticia Publicadas en 1974 contenian datos de 3,390 alimentos.De este total el 85% fue diferente al de los Estados Unidos y Canada. Aproximadamente el 77% (2,615) fueron forrajes. De los forrajes el 74% incluyo los valores para los analisis proximales y aproximadamente el 43% comprendio los valores para calcio y fosforo. Los datos de un pequeno porcentage de los forrajes comprendieron las concentraciones de minerales y los metodos de evaluacion de forrajes. Aproximadamente el 25% tanto de los forrajes latinoamericanos de los E.U. y Canada contenian 7% de proteina cruda o menos. Los forrajes latinoamericanos tendieron a tener una alta concentracion de ceniza y fibra cruda pero una menor concentracion del extracto libre de nitrogeno que los forrajes de E.U. y Canada. De los forrajes casi el 75% del fosforo y 31% del calcio fueron de 3% o menos lo cual puede deberse a deficiencias en estos elementos. Los niveles deficientes de ciertos elementos fueron reportados por muchos paises: Co 43%, Cu 47%, Mg 35%, Na 60% y Zn 75%. Las deficiencias de Fe, Mn y K o la toxicidad del Mb no son esperarse. |

The present study assessed the nutrient depuration capacity of Polygonum hydropiperoides by cultivating plants hydroponically in water obtained from fish ponds. The experiment simulated varying degrees of nutrient enhancement by using pond water enriched with nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) at the following concentrations (in mg L-1): 0-0 (NcPc), controlgroup; 105-15 (N1P1); 155-30 (N2P2); 185-45 (N3P3), and205-60 (N4P4). The sources of N and P were urea and diammonium phosphate, respectively. Experiments were carrie doutusing acompletely randomized design, with six replicates and five levels of added N and P, and lasted for 40 d until plants reached maturity. Plant morphological and chemical variables were recorded, and depuration efficiency was measured based on the total shoot biomass and the nutrient content per treatment. The best performance was observed in the N1P1 treatment, achieving a water depuration rate of 74% for N and 81% for P. These results suggest promise for using emergent plants such as Polygonum grown in hydroponic culture to remove excess nutrients from aquaculture sites. |
