A cultivar 'BRS Serena' originou-se do cruzamento de FT Jatobá X BR 89-11989-D, pelo método genealógico modificado e está sendo indicada para o plantio no Estado de Minas Gerais. Foi testada sob a sigla BRAS 97-0082. Possui hábito de crescimento determinado e ciclo semitardio, em torno de 138 dias. Apresenta boa resistência ao acamamento e à deiscência de vagem. A cor da sua flor é roxa e a pubescência marrom. Suas sementes são de cor amarelo intermediário com hilos de cor preta. Apresenta reação à peroxidase positiva. O peso médio de 100 grãos é de 15 gramas. É resistente ao vírus da necrose da haste, ao cancro-da-haste, mancha olho-de-rã e tolerante ao oídio. Nos testes de VCU (Valor de Cultivo e Uso), durante dois anos (1999/2000 e 2000/2001), em pelo menos 9 locais em Minas Gerais, a cultivar 'BRS Serena' alcançou produtividade média de 3358 kg/ha, sendo superior às testemunhas ´Emgopa 315 ´com produtividade de 3210 kg/ha e ´M-SOY 8411´, com produtividade de 3152 kg/ha, o que significa um ganho de 5% e 6%, respectivamente . As melhores produtividades foram obtidas com semeaduras no mês de novembro e população de 300 mil plantas/ha. Essa cultivar destaca-se pela alta estabilidade, produtividade e resistência ao vírus da necrose da haste. |

Plants have the ability to recognize and respond to a multitude of pathogens, resulting in a massive reprogramming of the plant to activate defense responses including Resistance (R) and Pathogenesis-Related (PR) genes. Abiotic stresses can also activate PR genes and enhance pathogen resistance, representing valuable genes for breeding purposes. The present work offers an overview of soybean R and PR genes present in the GENOSOJA (Brazilian Soybean Genome Consortium) platform, regarding their structure, abundance, evolution and role in the plantpathogen metabolic pathway, as compared with Medicago and Arabidopsis. Searches revealed 3,065 R candidates (756 in Soybean, 1,142 in Medicago and 1,167 in Arabidopsis), and PR candidates matching to 1,261 sequences (310, 585 and 366 for the three species, respectively). The identified transcripts were also evaluated regarding their expression pattern in 65 libraries, showing prevalence in seeds and developing tissues. Upon consulting the SuperSAGE libraries, 1,072 R and 481 PR tags were identified in association with the different libraries. Multiple alignments were generated for Xa21 and PR-2 genes, allowing inferences about their evolution. The results revealed Medicago and Arabidopsis. |
