An electrophoresis analysis was made in acrylamide gels for peroxidase and esterase isozymes, from macerated leaves or the "Tahiti" lime, using Citrus volkameriana Pasq., C. macrophylla Wester, C. jambhiri Lush, C. aurantium L. and C. reshni Hort, ex Tan. as rootstocks. A zymogram for each enzyme was performed for the scion and rootstocks. A Study of peroxidase activity was also made using the Bar Akiva et al.1 method, and results obtained were compared by means of analysis of variances and Duncan's multiple range test. C. aurantium is the only rootstock that shows two peroxidase isozymes. There are statistical differences between the peroxidase activity of trees grafted on C. volkameriana and C. jambhiri (the higher) and the activity of trees grafted on C. macrophylla, C. aurantium and C. reshni. The best identity for the esterase activity between the cultivar and its rootstocks is found with C. volkamericana and C. jambhiri. |
