One of the main objectives of banana and plantain breeding is the introduction of phatogen resistence into triploid cultivars. Wild diploids constitute a source of resistance genes. Molecular markers used as tools for the costruction of genetic maps of the diploids banana genome will permit better understanding of the genetics of resistance and the localization of resistance gens. The authors present the construction of a molecular genetic map generated from F2 segregation data (82 individuals) from a cross between a diploid banana cultivar and a wild clone. This map currently comprises 70 molecular markers. |
