Over the past 5 years, a great deal of information has been published comparing various preplant, preemergence and postemergence herbicides for soybean weed control. Most of these papers have dealt with direct comparisons among individual herbicides or with specific weed problems. In Norh Carolina, the majority of the soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.) acreage is infested with one or more grass species along with various broadleaf weeds. Or present weed control technology dictates that preplant or preemergence herbicides be used for grass control, and in most cases, postemergence herbicides must be used for complete broadleaf control. Published information is very limited dealing with these types of sequential treatments (1,2). The objective of this work was toinvestigate the performance of several commonly used preemergence herbicides and herbicide combinations in sequence with postemergence herbicides. |
