The sun radiates a nearly infinite supply of energy. Agriculture, in its production of biomass, is the world's greatest solar energy collector. While the principal function of agriculture is to produce food for human consuption, agriculture may be capable of providing additional biomass for use as fuel. Biomass may be grown specifically for fuel, or crop residues that are shown to be truly surplus may be collected and used as fuel. |
