Ipodione and fosetyl-Al were evaluated for efficacy against the major postharvest diseases of citrus fruit to consider the potential of these fungicides for commercial registration. Iprodione, but not fesetyl-Al, significantly reduced Diplodia stem-end rot in degreened oranges, and Phomopsis stem-end rot in fruit held in cold storange. Both fugicides provided signicant control of Alteraria stem-end rot. Iprodine and fosetyl-Al did not control green mold in fruit stored at 21C, but iprodione provided significant control in a trial where fruit were held at 1C in cold storange. Anthracnose and sour rot were not controlled by iprodione of fosetyl-Al. Field applications of fosetyl-Al protected grapefruit from brown rot a longer period of time than a similar copperapplication. Postharvest applications of fosetyl-Al provided eradicant control of brown rot in Valencia oranges when fruit were inoculated at 2 days before or less, but not at 3 days before treatment. |
