Os valores de recuperação e precisão foram considerados satisfatórios, -- Abstract: Elephant grass, (Pennisetum purpureum Schum) has a high potential for biomass production and it is most used for feeding animals with high-quality forage. Its use has been well-established in feeding ruminant animals and producing biofuels. Forage productivity and quality are directly affected by weed interference, resulting in considerable yield loss. In Brazil, there are no registered herbicides for the selective control weeds in elephant grass crops. Studies on potential herbicides for this purpose are necessary. Several studies on the potential of herbicides of weeds in elephant grasses have been developed. This work aims to optimize and validate a multi-residue method for the determination of atrazine, chlorimuron-ethyl, halosulfuron- methyl, metsulfuron-methyl, nicosulfuron, and metolachlor based on the extraction method of QuEChERS and quantification using LC-MS. Different adsorbents (PSA, C18, Florisil®, and GCB) were evaluated for the cleaning of the extract to reduce the interference of the matrix compounds to increase the reliability of the results. The optimized analytical method was validated considering the following performance parameters: selectivity, linearity, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), accuracy (recovery), and precision. The optimized method was selective and linear in the studied work range of 0.01 to 0.3 mg kg -1 for all the tested herbicides except in the case of metsulfuron-methyl (at 0.02 mg kg -1 ). The recovery and precision values were considered satisfactory.
