Seasonal variation of nutrients in mango (Mangifera indica) trees in three soils of the Dry Pacific Region of Costa Rica. II Micronutrients. The nutritional status and the seasonal variation of Mn,Zn,Fe,Cu and B was evaluated in mango trees of three different soils in the Dry Pacific region of Costa Rica: Ustic Humitropept (Atenas), Typic Dystropept(Orotina), and Typic Ustropept (Liberia). The objective was to determine the nutritional condition of the orchards, according to the concentrations of the nutrients in the soil and throghout the year. Leaf samples of three different ages were included (New Tissue, which corresponded to the last growth flush in the outside of the branch, Intermediate Tissue which corresponded to the second growth flush from the outside of the branch, and Old Tissue, which corresponded to the third growthflush from the ouside). The study was done in the most important mango varieties for export from Costa Rica: "Irwin" and "Tommy Atkins". All of the studiet nutrientns behaved as inmovile elements within the tree, and were found in higher concetrations in cv. "Tommy Atkins" than cv. "Irwin". B deficiencies were found in Atenas and Orotina, where the soil B contents were low. Zn deficiencies were found in the three studied orchards, which also corresponded to low contents in soils. Mn and Fe foliar concetrations were high, and much higher than the suficiency ranges for mango, this was especially evident in Orotina where the pH was the lowest and where the acidity content was the highest.
