Abstract: The Cassava germplasm collection of Embrapa Cassava and Tropical Fruits contain actually about 1.800 access. These were characterized using nine high stability morphological descriptors. Based on the morphological analysis it was possible to form groups of the identical access (duplicates). The objective of this work was to confirm the duplicity and to evaluate the genetic diversity among those access groups using RAPD markers. All analysis were carried out using 20 random primers. Fourty eight morphological groups composed from seven to 24 identical access, totaling 146 individuals, had been already analyzed. Results are showing a high similarity between morphological and molecular analysis being, in some cases, possible to distinguish differences in only one morphological marker. The genetic diversity evaluation demonstrated also a high similarity among some access groups. This result showed that the molecular markers can be an efficient tool to help in a core collection construction. |
