Abstract: Mastitis is usually caused by infection by microorganisms, due to environmental factors and lack of hygiene in the herd, and may be subclinical or clinical. Many etiologic agents can is involved in inflammation of the mammary gland, the most common are Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Mycoplasma spp. Micococcus SSP. and Corynebacterium spp .. There are few reports of mastitis and isolation of bacteria in milk goats in Bahia, mainly in the Senhor do Bonfim, at the time were collected from 102 animals, 204 samples of goat milk, half with antibiotics and one without. The samples were seeded and medium sheep blood agar for growth and isolation of bacteria and then identifying the agents. Of the 204 milk samples plated on sheep blood agar, 17 (8.33%) showed bacterial growth. Of the 17 samples with this growth, 12 (70.5%) were stored in tubes without antibiotics and 05 (29.5%) in tubes containing antibiotic. The microorganisms identified 47.05% were Staphylococcus spp., 35.3% were Micrococcus spp., 11.85% Corynebacterium spp. and an anaerobic sample (5.7%) unidentified. With these data it can be said that the etiological agent who had higher prevalence in this study was Staphylococcus spp. Which is the most frequent agent in goat mastitis in Brazil.
