Corn and peanut were single-cropped in three separate experimental plots of 50 x 30 meters each to determine the relative benefits that could be dewed from each cropping method with respect to unit production cost and income under the dry-season planting (December-April) in the Jones Rural School. The study showed that the peanut single crop culture gave the highest unit net income per kilogram of harvested product, followed by the corn-peanut intercrop and the corn single crop cultures, in that order (corn and peanut were respectively in shelled and unshelled forms). Unit production cost per kilogram of product followed the same order; in other words, unit production cost varied directly with unit net income. |
