Conteúdo:  The present investigation was carried out in three experiments with soils from Santa Catarina, Brazil. a) Lime application and time of lime incubation had little effect on the adsorption of added phosphorus. Only small changes in solution P, isotopically exchangeable P and non-exchangeable P were found. In two soils with high contents of exchangeable P slightly decreased and non-exchangeable P slightly increased in recently limed samples (1 month incubation). These small changes were probably caused by phosphorus adsorbing on freshly precipitated aluminium hydrous oxides. In one soil with less exchangeable aluminium, P in solution slightly increased with lime applications. Time of incubation (10 and 23 months) slightly increased solution and exchangeable P and slightly decreased non-exchangeable P and slightly decreased non-exchangeable P at all lime levels. The appreared to be due to crystallization of aluminium hydrous oxides with time, reducing the number of sites for P adsorption. b) In a pot experiment, lime and phosphorus application have markedly increased barley shoot and root dry matter and nutrient uptake. Althrough liming has slightly reduced phosphorus availability measured by solution P, isotopically exchangeable P and resin extractable P, it has increased phosphorus uptake possible by reducing aluminium toxicity and promoting better root growth. The soil aluminium without being damaged. c) in soil columns, the losses of calcium by leaching have increased with l... Mostrar Tudo
