Therefore, we addressed the following objectives: (i) to quantify the effects of charcoal, organic and inorganic fertilization on soil fertility and crop production; and (ii) to evalute the sustainability of charcoal additions in terms of maintaining high SOM contents and nutrient availability with special emphasis on Terra Firme Ferralsols near Manaus. It is hypothesized that charcoal additions improve nutrient availability and that crop productivity is maintained on a higher level than without charcoal additions. |
