Abstract: A section of this bulletin deals with the effect of nutrition. An experiment is described in which 40 grade Rambouillet ewes were divided into 2 comparable groups. One group received hay only, the other hay plus meals. A pronounced difference in condition due to feeding resulted. Oestrus was detected by teaser rams. Laparotomies on 1.5 ewes from each group were performed. The other 5 ewes in each group were inseminated. There were 10 twin ovulations in the better fed group as against 4 in the other. The lower plane of nutrition resulted in a lengthening of the oestral cycle without lengthening oestrus, in a shortening of the pre-ovulatory period, and in a shortening of the breeding season by 11/2 months.
