Strawberry fruit is the most cultivated berry worldwide, valued for its unique nutritional and organoleptic characteristics. Although, commercial production relies heavily on synthetic and inorganic fertilizers, their excessive application harms the environment and depends on nonrenewable resources. Therefore, using growth-promoting bacteria has emerged as a sustainable route in agriculture, decreasing resource demand and improving quality. This study evaluates how bacterial inoculation of strains Azospirillum brasilense, Bacillus megaterium, and Brevibacillus fuminis, either singly or in combinations, benefts the sugar, organic acids and volatile compounds quality of strawberry fruits (cv. ‘Aromas’) in cultivation systems with reduced fertilization. Two controls without inoculation were used: C1 received full fertilization, and C2 received 30% of the nitrogen and phosphorus, and 50% of the calcium, magnesium, and micronutrients fertilization compared to C1. The inoculated treatments are the aforementioned bacteria singly or in consortia, supplemented by the fertilization used in C2. Our fndings highlighted the efects of bacterial inoculation on the concentrations of glucose, fructose, citric and succinic acids. Inoculants increased sugar and reduced acidity in strawberries despite nutrient reductions imposed compared to C1. A signifcant increase in the number and classes of volatile compounds was also observed. Notably, most treatments composed of A. brasilense showed good results. The triple consortium of bacteria provided the best results, presenting glucose concentrations of 1.435 g L−1, fructose of 1.855 g L−1, citric acid of 1.975 g L−1, and 22 volatile compounds, three of which were unique. Our results demonstrated how positive bacteria afect the favour quality of strawberry fruits.
