Platyobria drepanoides Burck hardt, sp. nov. is a pest on clones of Eucalyptus pellita and hybrids of E. gran dis × E. pellita in commercial planta tions in East Kalimantan (Indonesia). The new species is described and illus trated, and relationships to its congeners are discussed. Some previously over looked or misinterpreted morphological generic characters are described and discussed. Immatures develop on young leaves and shoots. At high population levels, infested trees show symptoms of yellowing and deformation of the crown. Along with P. drepanoides speci mens of Blastopsylla occidentalis were collected, a species not previously reported from Borneo. |
