This study aimed to demonstrate how the social entrepreneurship can contribute on the development of local communities using an applied practical experience in the insular region of Belém. The generation of income from agricultural production, both for subsistence consumption and to marketing has been used as a tool for social promotion by the community in partnership with Embrapa Amazonia Oriental. The research methodology involved bibliographical research and field, using interviews and testimonials provided by community residents. The research showed that the formation of social entrepreneurs is possible through the creation of associative networks of local sustainable and integrated development as a promising alternative to the generation of employment and income for socially excluded families with a help from big companies. aAmazonia aCassava aAçaí aBanana aMandioca aBelém aComunidade aDesenvolvimento aEmpreendedorismo social aInclusão1 aSILVA, D. da F.1 aMODESTO JUNIOR, M. de S.1 aMARQUES, T.
