P. de aLife history of Pentilia sp. and Coccidophilus citricola (ColeopterabCoccinellidae) on the cactaceae scale insect. c2002 aCactaceas have been used as forage plants in the Northeast region of Brazil. The most importante species used as food sources are opuntia fícus-indica and nopalea cochenillifera. Despite their adaptationto the semiarid área with few soil and climatic requirements, they have suffered severe damages by the unique inset pest Diaspis echinocacti. The use of coccinellids has been pointed out as the ost suitable way of controlling this cactaceae scale insect. However, the lack of basic information has limited their use in biological control programs. Here the biology of pentilia sp and coccidophilus was studied. aCoccinellidae aInsecta aDiaspis Echinocacti aCoccidophilus aForage plants aPentilia1 aVEIGA, A. F. S. L.1 aGOMES, D. N.
