M. aEconomic development and the income of brazilian male migrants of farm origin. a1982.c1982 a317p. aTese ( Doutorado) - University of Wisconsin, Madison. aThis study is concerned with the effects of regional economic development and rural-urban residence on the income of Brazilian male off-farm migrants of working age. It is well known that off-farm migrants earn more than those who stay on the farms, and that large numbers of men leave their home farm to work elsewhere. The present study shows how the destination of such migrants effect their income in 1973. It also looks into the impact of these destinations on the effect of variables drawn from human capital theory and from theoretical insights of treiman (1970) regarding industrialization and the process of status attainment. Two types of migrants were analyzed, intra-regional and inter-regional. The regressor were the migrant's father's occupational status (FOCST), the migrant's educational status (SEDUS), his first job (SFOCS), his current occupation (SCOCS), labor force experience (SLEXP) and job experience (SJEXP)... aBrazil aeconomic development aDesenvolvimento Econômico aBrasil aMão-de-obra rural aMigração aMigration aRural manpower
