G. aDevelopment of micropropagated shoots and plants of Caroá in different substrates.h[electronic resource] c2010 aCaroá (Neoglaziovia variegata) is a native Bromeliaceae of Caatinga used for fiber extraction in the Northeast region of Brazil. The anthropic activity put this species among the threatened ones. The work aimed to determine a substrate adapted for an efficient development of shoots and plants of caroá produced in vitro that were not submitted to the in vitro rooting stage. Shoots without roots and rooting plants (during the multiplication phase) were obtained from two culture media: MS with 0.5 µM of NAA (naphtaleneacetic acid) and 4.4 µM of BAP (6- benzylaminopurine) and MS supplemented with 0.5 µM of NAA and 2.2 µM of KIN (kinetin). These shoots and plants were acclimatizated in the following substrates: washed sand, Ecoterra®, coconut fiber, coconut fiber + Plantmax®, Plantmax®, vermiculite and vermiculite + Plantmax®. The best results for direct acclimatization of shoots and plants of caroá were obtained with Ecoterra® and Plantmax® substrates. On the other hand, the results showed the necessity to make a study on production cost of these in vitro plants, considering the different situations presented in this work. atissue culture aBromeliaceae aCaroá aPlanta Têxtil aFiber extraction1 aSANTANA, J.
