S. aInfluencia do exercico fisico em parametros bioquimicos de equinos pantaneiros mesticos. c1995 aCiencia da Vida. aThe "Pantaneiro" horse breed is characterized by its adjustment to the Mato Grosso swamp region (the "Pantanal Matogrossense"). For the first time, biochemical aspects of the "Pantaneiro" horse metabolism were analyzed. Four "Pantaneiro" and four non-defined breed mares with ages ranging from 54 to 60 months were used for this study. The influence of physical exercise (a 30km ride) and blood glucose levels, total proteins, uea, creatinine and total lipids was analyzed. Biochemical analyses were performed using colorimetric methods. Data were analysed by paired Student's "t" test. Blood samples were collected prior to exerciuse, at 15 km, at 30 km, and one hour after the end of the exercise. No significant differences were found protein aor urea during or after the exercise. However, a significant (P<0.01) glucose increase was observed at 15 km and at 30 km; a significant increase (P<0.05) was found in total lipids at 30 km. A significant creatinine increase (P<0.01) was noted at 15 km of exercise in the non-defined breedequine. These resuslts suggest that the Pantaneiro equine possesses a higher ablity for glucose and lipids mobilization than non-defined breeds. ablood chemistry aEquino pantaneiro aExercicio fisico aExercise physiology aPantaneiro equine breed aQuimica de sangue1 aBOTELHO, G.
