N. aLethal temperatures of Oreochromis niloticus (Pisces, Cichlidae). c1986 aThe lethal temperatures (CTMin) of Oreochromis miloticus were determined for adult fish acclimated at 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 38C. For each acclimation temperature the CTMax was: 39.2; 40.7; 41.4; 42.7 and 43.6C, and the CTMin: 6.4; 8.2; 8.7; 10.3; 12.7 and 14.0C respectively. Young fish divided into three classes according to body size (2.0 to 3.9 cm; 4.0 to 5.9 cm and 6.0 to 7.9 cm) showed no differences in CTMax and CTMin either among themselves or in relation to the adult fish, although young fish did not acclimated to 15C. The zone of thermal tolerance for this species was equivalent to 1122C2, which was considered a wide tolerance, when compared with those of other teleosts. The species presented remarkable tolerance to higher temperatures but showed limited tolerance capacity and adaptation to lower temperatures. aacclimation afish aAclimataĆ§Ć£o aOreochromis Niloticus aPeixe aLethal temperature aTemperatura letal aThermal tolerance aTolerancia termica1 aRANTIN, F.
