N. aAboveground standing crop-determination of a grassland community by density and quadrat methods. c1978 aThe aboveground standing crop of a grassland community at Chandraprabha sanctuary of Varanasi forst division was determined by density and quadrat methods, during October 1976. The result of quadrat method is conditioned by three factors viz. (i) distribution of the species, (ii) vegetative vigour of the sampled spot and (iii) the density of the species in the samples, and also this method distorts the information of rate species in a heterogenous vegetation. The density method is irrespective of all these errors. Thereafter, the results of both the methods, if vary at the species level, are almost similar at the communlty level. This finding stands to interpret that both the methods are consistent Moreover, the density method is more precise and informative than the conventional quadrat method. adensity aPastagem aComunidade aDensidade aGrassland community aQuadrat methods tIndian Journal of Ecologygv.5, n.2, p.203-213, 1978.
