Calyptocephala brevicornis (Boheman, 1950) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae, Cassidinae) was observed attacking plantations of oil palms in Porto Platon, located in Territorio Federal do Amapa, Brazil. Field work was carried out in order to find out the native palm that was host to C. brevicornis, its damage, and natural enemies. Also the relationship between the natural enemies and the lower canopy plants was studied. The native palm that hosts C. brevicornis is a plant commonly known as "mumbaca" (Astrocaryum sp.). Egfs, larvae, pupae and adults of C. brevicornis were found in Astronyum sp.The following natural enemies were determined: Polybia occidentalis cinctus (Provancher) (Hymenoptera; Vespidae) and many species of Chalcididae (Hymenoptera), the former a predator and the latter a parasitoid, found in solanaceous plants of the genus Solanum. aBrazil aDendĂȘ aElaeis Guineensis aAmapa aBrasil aCalyptocephala brevicornis aOil palm tAnais da Sociedade Entomologicagv.14, n.1, p.37-43, 1985.
