Along the centuries, these cattle endured poor ranges, droughts, heat and other adverse factors, becoming well adapted to the unfavorable conditions of Northeastern Brazil semi-arid zone. However, despite they are a valuable genetis resource, these cattle are at risk of extinction. Because of this, the Brazilian Organization for Agricultural Research (Embrapa), using in situ and ex situ conservation methods and with the participation of cattlebreeders, is truying to avoid the disappearance of this breed. acattle aBovino aConservação aConservation aCurraleiro aPe-duro aPotencial aPotentiality1 aGIRAO, R.
