Anais... João Pessoa: EMEPA-PB, 2009. 3 f.c2009  aEste estudo avaliou os efeitos da raça e época de coleta do ejaculado sobre os atributos do sêmen hircino destinado à congelação. Foram utilizados 24 bodes das raças (n=8/cada) Pardo-alpina, Moxotó e ½ Alpino_ ½moxotó, que foram submetidos à coletas quinzenais do sêmen nas épocas seca e chuvosa de dois anos consecutivos. Compararam-se características físico-químicas, quantitativas e morfológicas do sêmen através de técnicas padronizadas. A congelação de sêmen seguiu o protocolo da Embrapa. Procedeu-se a análise de variância pelo método dos quadrados mínimos. A raça teve efeito significativo (P&lt0,05) sobre todos atributos, exceto volume ejaculado, motilidade individual progressiva (MIP) e percentual de defeitos morfológicos maiores e menores. A estação do ano também afetou todos atributos, exceto a MIP na glicerolização e o vigor póscongelação/descongelação. Interação significativa raça x época foi observada para MIP, MIP e vigor à refrigeração e defeitos morfológicos maiores e totais. Concluí-se que os atributos do sêmen hircino variam conforme o genótipo e a época do ano, fatores que influenciam a resposta animal aos procedimentos de congelação e que, portanto, devem ser considerados quando da industrialização de sêmen caprino. [Variation sources of the process to freeze buck semen]. Abstract - This study evaluated the effects of breed of semen donor as well as season/order of collection of ejaculates on the attributes of the buck semen destined to freezing. A total of 24 male goats from (n=8 each) Brown alpine, Moxotó and ½ Alpine ½ Moxotó breed types were submitted to semen collection throughout rainy and dry seasons of two consecutive years under a biweekly basis . Physical and chemical, morphological and quantitative attributes were assessed through standard methods. Sperm freezing followed the optimized protocol developed by Embrapa. Data were assessed by the method of the LS means of ANOVA. Breed affected all attributes except volume of ejaculate, progressive individual motility (PIM) and percentage of major and minor morphologic defects. Season of the year also effected all attributes, except PIM at addition of glycerol and sperm vigor after freezing/thawing. Significant interaction breed x season was observed for PIM, PIM and sperm vigor at cooling, as well as total and major sperm defects. It has been concluded that buck semen attributes vary according to breed and season of the year.
