The protein enriched treated bagasse was fed as a concentrate mixture to the experimental kids (A0s, A3s, A6s and A9s groups) with a Sugras [milk] ration in a ratio of 1 : 1. Each kid received experimental feed at the rate of 200 g/head per day. The control group (C) kids received Sugras milk ration as a concentrate mixture at the rate of 200 g/head per day. The kids from all the groups received green lucerne as a roughage at the rate of 2 kg/head per day. The duration of experiment was 13 wk. There was a significant difference in gain in body weight of kids from different treatment groups. The per day gains recorded were 31.3, 46.1, 47.5, 42.8 and 50.0 g in groups A0s, A3s, A6s, A9s and control (C) group, respectively. The values for percent gain over initial body weights were 19.96, 29.32, 30.89, 26.26 and 31.87, respectively. The DM [dry matter] intake was almost similar in all the treatment groups. The protein requirement kilogram, gain in body weight was 3.47, 2.46, 2.46, 2.64 and 2.70 kg in A0s, A3s, A6s, A9s and control (C) group, respectively. The feeding of protein enriched NaOH treated sugarcane bagasse to crossbred goat kids showed satisfactory and economic growth. aAnimal feeding aAnimal growth aGoats aRuminant nutrition aSugarcane bagasse aCaprino aCrescimento aNutrição aRestolho aSugar cane aUtilizacao1 aDESHMUKH, A.
