Plasma concentration of serotonin, cortisol, fibrinogen, protein, the activity of acid phosphatase, and packed cell volume were measured in the blood of 60 feedlot calves on day 0 (the day they arrived at the feedlot), and on days 7, 14, 28, and 56. Statistical analysis showed that serotonin could explain 19.11% of the variability in total days of sickness.
