S.  aEffects of drought on agricultural sector of Northeast Brasil.  aFortaleza: ICIDc1992  a20p.  aThe main objective of this study was to analyse the five year (1979-83) drought effect on agricultural production, labour use and farm income of small farmers of the Northeast. The data used in this study was obtained from County Agricultural Production Statistics, published by FIBGE The results led to conclude a reduction of agricultural production of 83% in relation to 1978, a year of normal rainfall. In 1983, about 583 thousand rural workers lost their jobs due to reduction in crop harvested area. Also in the same year, agricultural production was reduced by 206 billion cruzeiros.
